DescriptionA black-and-white photograph of Honus Wagner captured holding up his baseball bat at home. Wagner is standing behind a table covered with a lace table cloth which has two of his trophies placed on it. Wagner has a small smile and is dressed in a buttoned down shirt with suspenders. The caption (not shown) on the back of the photograph states, "Mr. Shortstop says 'Bring 'Em On' John D. (Honus) Wagner, baseball's Mr. Shortstop, says 'bring 'em on' as he grips one of his famous warclubs he used to bat himself into eight consecutive national league trophies before he retired in 1917. The 'Flying Dutchman' hit over. 300 in 17 of his 23 years in the majors. He will celebrate his 77th birthday anniversary Feb. 24. 2/23/51." Based on the caption, this photograph was taken on February 23, 1951.
