New York: Giant manager Leo Durocher has a big welcome for slugger Monte Irvin, brought up from Jersey City to bolster the faltering New York attack. Irvin, who was batting over .500, with 10 homers, in the International League, reported before the Cubs-Giants game at the Polo Grounds, May 16."
