DescriptionA black-and-white photograph of Mickey Mantle sitting in the backseat of a car while pointing to the cast on his left leg. Two men lean in the open car door and are looking at Mantle's leg. The caption on the back (not shown) reads, "Off to the Hospital-New York: Mickey Mantle, New York Yankees star slugger, points to his broken left foot as he leavers New York's LaGuardia Airport June 6th for the hospital. Mantle suffered a fracture of the third metatarsal bone while charging into a fence in Baltimore June 5th in a vain effort to catch home run hit by Brooks Robinson. He figures to be out of action five or six weeks."
