DescriptionA black-and-white full length photograph of Eddie Waitkus in a Chicago Cubs alternate uniform on March 15, 1941. Waitkus is sideways to the camera with his left foot on first base and his right foot stretched out in front of him. He has just caught the baseball thrown from another player and has his eye closed. In the background are a few other players, a long building and a mountain. The caption on the back (not shown) reads, "Catalina Island, Cal. : Ed Waitkus of Cambridge, Mass. Holding down sack in practice session of the Cubs infield at Training camp of Chicago Cubs. Chi-NY-Cleve 3-15-41"
