DescriptionA black-and-white full-length action photograph of Grover Cleveland Alexander pitching. Facing the camera, Alexander wears a Chicago Cubs home uniform. Depicted in his follow through position, Alexander stands on his front left leg, with his right extended back behind his body. Only the toe of his right foot touches the ground. Leaning forward, Alexander hold his right arm across his body waist height. His gloved left hand rests down by his side. Alexander looks forward to a point in the distance and to the left of the camera. Based on the specific design of the uniform worn by Alexander, this image was captured between 1931 and 1936. Pasted on the reverse (not shown), a caption typed in black ink reads, "(...)LEXANDER TRAINS WITH THE CUBS GROVER CLEVELAND ALEXANDER, ONE OF BASEBALL'S GREATEST PITCHERS, NOW RETIRED, PHOTOGRAPHED AT THE CATALINA ISLAND TRAINING CAMP, WHERE HE WORKS OUT DAILY WITH THE CHICAGO CUBS. HE SPENDS MUCH OF HIS TIME PITCHING TO BATTERS DURING PRACTICE."
