Biography"Catcher Rob Leary was drafted in the 12th round of the 1986 amateur draft by the Montreal Expos. He caught for six seasons in the Expos organization, from 1986 to 1990. He reached as high as AAA for two games in his last year, but spent most of his time as a back-up in Class A. Leary was the Minor League Field Operations Director for the Florida Marlins in 1999 and a Marlin advance scout in 2000-2001. He was the Boston Red Sox' Minor League Catching Instructor in 2002 and became the Red Sox' Minor League Field Coordinator in 2003, keeping the position until 2009. In 2010 and 2011, he worked for the Red Sox as a major league staff assistant. In 2012, he was named minor league field coordinator for the Cleveland Indians. In 2013, he was appointed bench coach of the Miami Marlins, working with new manager Mike Redmond. Both of them were fired on May 17, 2015, after the Marlins had failed to get off to a good start even though management had made large investments to build a competitive team during the off-season." -- Baseball Reference.
