BiographyPat Carney was a rightfielder and pitcher in the Major Leagues from 1901-1904. He had attended Holy Cross in Worcester, MA, and played for the Worcester minor league team from 1900-1901. Carney was the head coach at his alma mater from 1906 to 1909. The most notable player there at the time was Jack Barry, who became part of the $100,000 infield and later coached Holy Cross himself. Carney later became a doctor (hence the nickname "Doc") and practiced for decades. He was the team physician for the Holy Cross teams and the house doctor for the college.
