DescriptionLarge life-size wooden sculpture of a baseball player wearing a white pinstriped uniform, blue socks, black shoes, and a blue cap with a white "NY" logo on the front. Player is holding a baseball bat over his proper left shoulder. Sculpture is mounted on a rectangular base with sculptor information carved on one side.
Bio/Historical NoteThis basswood sculpture contains no leather, cloth, or stone. The 300-pound carving, estimated to have taken some 1,200 hours to create, depicts the Bambino in his batting stance from 1929.
