DescriptionBronze statuette depicting a baseball player in a batting stance with a bat raised over proper right shoulder. This is set on a black metal rectangular base with a metal scrolled placard on the front, "Hello Mother / With My Lima / Friends Today / Oct. 14 '27 / Lou." Bottom of the base is covered in green felt.
Bio/Historical NoteStatuette given to Lou Gehrig by fans in Lima, Ohio, when Ruth and Gehrig played an exhibition game there during their barnstorming tour of October 1927. Ruth and Gehrig played an exhibition game in Lima on the date inscribed and Gehrig later gave this trophy to his mother.
