A newspaper clipping affixed to the back of the photograph (not shown) reads, "The widows of three men who have won immortality in baseball look to the playing field of Yankee Stadium Aug. 13 where the all-star teams of 1939 replay their game of that year. Mrs. John McGraw, Mrs. Babe Ruth, and Mrs. Lou Gehrig (from left) were among the honored guests at the annual old-timers' day game in New York. The Nationals, who lost, 3-1, in 1939, won, 2-0, this time in two-inning rematch." Based on the newspaper clipping this photograph was taken on August 13, 1960.
