DescriptionA black-and-white photograph of Blanche McGraw captured posing next to a bronze plaque honoring her late husband, John McGraw's, 25th anniversary with the Giants. McGraw has a somber expression as she holds the plaque up. A newspaper clipping is affixed to the back of the photograph (not shown) reads, "Mrs. John McGraw, widow of John Joseph McGraw, the man who ruled the destinies of the Giants for 30 years, is saddened as she speaks to newsmen at her home here Aug. 20th. She is standing next to a bronze plaque given to her late husband by newspapers throughout the country commemorating his 25th anniversary as pilot of the Giants (1902-1927). 'I guess all I have left now are memories,' Mrs. McGraw, commenting on the Giants' decision to move to San Francisco next year. 'It's one of the most tragic things that ever happened to me.' She has attended every Giant opening game except one since 1903 and has seen them in every World Series they've played since 1905--14 in all." Based on the newspaper clipping this photograph was taken on August 20, 1957.
