DescriptionA black-and-white photograph of Mildred Ott captured watching the New York Giants face the Brooklyn Dodgers with her two daughters, Barbara Ann and Lyn on August 7, 1940 at the Polo Grounds. Mrs. Ott is pointing in the distance as her younger daughter Barbara Ann is excitedly seated on her lap and is holding a program or scorecard in her hand. Lyn is seated next to her mother with a sour expression on her face and has her jacket folded over her arms. A newspaper clipping is affixed to the back of the photograph (not shown) and states, "Ott's wife watches husband play on 'Mel Ott Day' New York City, N.Y. -- Mrs. Mel Ott, with their two children, Barbara 7 1/2, and Lyn, 4 1/2, watches her husband playing with the Giants against the Brooklyn Dodgers at the Polo Grounds here tonight, on 'Mel Ott Day'. The Dodgers won the game, 8-4, but that didn't take from the lustre of the honor to the veteran ball-player from his fans all over the country." Based on the newspaper clipping, this photograph was taken on August 7, 1940.
