Syl Simon bat

DescriptionDark stain wooden bat, 40 ounces, with "Louisville Slugger / 125 / Powerized" in the center of the barrel and "Syl Simon" in block letters inscribed near the end of the barrel. Handle has an iron piece attached near the knob with a cushion attached. This area also has black tape wrapped around the circumference of the bat along with another section of black tape on the handle heading towards the taper.
Bio/Historical NoteModified baseball bat used by Syl Simon after his accident in 1926. He lost all the fingers on his left hand but the pinkie in a saw while working for an Evansville furniture factory. He used this bat while playing minor league baseball from 1926 to 1932. It features a steel handle padded with a rubber sponge and covered with baby flannel to absorb perspiration from his hand. Syl Simon played for the major league in 1923 to 1924 for the St. Louis Browns.
