Billy Southworth shirt

DescriptionLight gray satin uniform shirt, size 42, with red satin detailing along the shoulders and around the sleeves. "Braves" is in red appliques on the front with a black, yellow and orange tomahawk underneath. Six gray buttons run down the length of the front placket. "Southworth" is embroidered in red thread on a white label at the interior back of the neck along with a manufacturer label, "Horace Partridge Athletic Goods," and "42." Reverse of the shirt has "30" in red appliques. Interior of the shirt is lined in gray fabric.

Bio/Historical NoteBoston Braves satin uniform shirt worn by manager Billy Southworth. After managing the St. Louis Cardinals in 1929 and again from 1940 to 1945, Southworth managed the Boston Braves from 1946 to 1951. In 1948, the Braves won the National League pennant but lost the World Series to the Cleveland Indians. Southworth was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2008.
