Tony Gwynn 3000th Career Hit helmet

DescriptionNavy blue batting helmet, size 7 1/8, with a proper right ear protector and a white and orange "SD" sticker on the front. Top of the bill has been signed "Tony Gwynn" in silver ink. Rear of the helmet has an "ABC" manufacturer logo and orange "19" stickers. There is a white circular "R" sticker at the top crown along with ventilation holes. Interior stickers include an "ABC" size label with "3000" written in black ink, an "MLB Authentic / Diamond Collection" sticker and a warning label. Interior top crown has one circular high density foam pad. Interior of the ear protector and interior rear center are padded with dual density foam. Sweatband around the interior perimeter is a brown vinyl-wrapped pad.
Bio/Historical NoteHelmet worn by Tony Gwynn of the San Diego Padres on August 6, 1999 when he recorded his 3,000th career hit. Gwynn became the first National Leaguer in twenty years to enter the 3,000-Hit Club when he singled in the first inning against the Montreal Expos. The historic hit came six years to the day after Gwynn had collected his 2,000th career hit and marked the first time a player had reached 3,000 hits on foreign soil.
