DescriptionA black-and-white photograph of a plaque on the backstop of the field where Christy Mathewson played his first professional season. The sign was dedicated on May 30, 1994 and reads "Christy Mathewson 1880-1925 On this field in 1899, this legendary pitcher played his first season in professional baseball with Taunton of the New England League. He went on to be one of the first five players elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame upon its creation in 1936." Based on when the plaque was dedicated and when the Hall received the donation, the photograph was taken in 1994 or 1995.
