DescriptionA black-and-white, full-length photograph of Christy Mathewson holding a Big Six indoor baseball game. The image caption on the reverse (not shown) reads, "The first authentic pictures taken of Matty since his illness. The peerless pitcher of baseball now back to health is credited with the greatest battle of his career in his victory over the pulmonary illness which overtook him three years ago. 'It's an ill wind that doesn't blow come good; for here he is with his new indoor baseball game 'Big Six' created while convalescent." A last time used stamp on the reverse (also not shown) has a date of June 1, 1922 indicating that the photograph was taken on or before this day.
