Bio/Historical NoteBaseball from the game on May 6, 1998 when Kerry Wood of the Chicago Cubs struck out 20 Houston Astros batters at Wrigley Field. This tied the Major League record held by Roger Clemens and established a new National League record for strikeouts in a nine-inning game. The Chicago Cubs defeated the Houston Astros 2-0.
