DescriptionDark blue plastic batting helmet, size 7 5/8, with a red "B" decal on the front and a proper right side ear protector. Rear of the helmet has an MLB logo sticker as well as "34" in red and white stickers. Top crown of the helmet has four ventilation holes. Interior has a vinyl-covered sweatband around the perimeter along with foam pads at the top crown, rear and around ear protector. Interior crown also has an "R" sticker, a "7.58" sticker, and an MLB hologram sticker. Underside of the bill has a raised "M."
Bio/Historical NoteHelmet worn by David Ortiz of the Boston Red Sox for his record-setting 43rd home run as a designated hitter in 2005, breaking Edgar Martinez's single-season record of 37. An American Red Cross sticker had been affixed to the left side of helmet during the regular season in honor of their service during Hurricane Katrina, but this sticker was removed for postseason play.
