Gary Carter World Series helmet

DescriptionBlue plastic batting helmet, size 7 1/4, with an orange "NY" decal on the front. Top crown has two ventilation holes. Top of the bill has "Carter" in white lettering on a blue vinyl label strip. Rear of the helmet has an "ABC" logo sticker and "Carter" in white lettering on a blue vinyl label strip. Interior has a vinyl-covered padded sweatband around the perimeter as well as a circular foam pad at the top crown and a manufacturer sticker with sizing information. Underside of the bill has "American Baseball Cap" in raised lettering with patent information.

Bio/Historical NoteHelmet worn by Gary Carter of the New York Mets during the 1986 World Series. While ear protection was required for batters in 1983, there was a "grandfather" clause permitting veteran batters to use their older helmets. Carter was known to use his older helmet.
