DescriptionYellow leather baseball with red stitching and faded black stamps, including "The Cushioned Cork Center / Spalding" and "Official / National League." Ball has been signed in blue ink by members of the 1939 Brooklyn Dodgers team.
Bio/Historical NoteSeeking greater visibility for both batters and fielders, the Brooklyn Dodgers experimented with yellow baseballs in an August 2, 1938, game against the St. Louis Cardinals. Player reaction was mixed, and the innovation never caught on.
