Hailey Dawson Autographed prosthetic hand

Date2015
DescriptionOrange 3D printed prosthetic hand with five hinged fingers, a hinge at the wrist area and a lower forearm portion with black straps having hook-and-loop fasteners for securing the prosthetic on one's forearm. There is a black bird logo on the back of the hand and the prosthetic has been autographed in black ink over the entire surface. There are clear rubber pieces attached on the upper parts of the forefinger, middle, ring and thumb fingers. There is a black rectangular piece at the base of the prosthetic with "UNLV" in white lettering. Extending from the base of the back of the prosthetic hand are five clear bands which attach at the top of the "UNLV" portion and extend up through the main area of the prosthetic and through each of the fingers. On the palm side of the prosthetic is another black hook-and-loop strap with a hook-and-loop fastener.
Bio/Historical NoteIn 2015, five-year-old Hailey Dawson tossed out the first pitch for her favorite team, the Baltimore Orioles, using this robotic hand engineered by the University of Nevada-Las Vegas. Dawson, born with Poland Syndrome that resulted in an underdeveloped right arm and hand, then began a quest to throw out the first pitch at every MLB ballpark, a feat she completed in 2018.
