DescriptionA matted pen-and-ink drawing by artist Little Willy King, dated 1955. The bottom left quadrant contains a head-and-shoulders drawing of Joe Engel wearing glasses. To his right, the caption reads, "Starting his 25th year in Chattanooga... Joe Engel remembers the past but looks forward with his rose colored glasses!" The cartoon depicts Engel at his first opener in 1930 in the upper left corner as well as players carrying pennants for 1932, 1939, and 1952 in the center of the cartoon. In the upper right corner, there is a person holding a large money bag with a dollar sign on the front for "'Pot-o-Gold' Nights." In the lower right quadrant of the cartoon, a few small drawings of an elephant, a young female pitcher, and the head of a member of the Knothole Gang. The bottom right has a drawing of the artist with the accompanying caption, "He's had managers such as Cuyler, Hornsby, Niehoff, Ermer, etc." King's signature is above his likeness. The bottom has an editorial notation, "4 col. line cut, Thurs spts, Joe Smith save for King." The back of the cartoon (not shown) is blank.
