Gone But Not Forgotten cartoon

Datecirca 1965
DescriptionA matted pencil-drawn cartoon by Little Willy King. This drawing shows Joe Engel, crying, and looking over a grave with a headstone that reads, "Lookouts Rest in Peace," referring to the Chattanooga Lookouts baseball team. The background shows an empty stadium with a caption bubble above Engel reading, "Gone - But Not Forgotten." The team went from the Southern Association in 1963 to the Southern League for the 1964 and 1965 seasons before it was disbanded, indicating that this cartoon was probably created in the mid-1960s before it was reincarnated in 1976 once again the Southern League. The bottom right is signed "W.C. King" and the verso (not shown) is blank.
