DescriptionA black-and-white photograph of Ty Cobb with Texas golf pro, Jimmy Demaret, and fight referee, Artie Donovan. The image caption on the reverse (not shown) reads, "Ty Cobb got into town today for that big benefit golf match with Babe Ruth at Fresh Meadow Friday. And among the first to greet the old diamond hero was Jimmy Demaret (left), the former Texas pro who gave Ty a few pointers. Another greeter, in an official capacity, was Artie Donovan. The famous fight referee (right), who will referee the torrid match. Proceeds will go to United Service Organizations to provide recreational facilities for our soldiers and sailors."
