The caption (not shown) reads "Babe Ruth (left), 240 pounds, applies his own version of a neck lock to Manuel Cortez, 200, after the Boston grappler refused to heed the Bambino's warning against unnecessary roughness in a bout at Portland, ME., April 2. The Babe made his debut as wrestling referee in contest between Cortez and Leo Numa, of Seattle, Wash., the winner. The Babe says he dropped four pounds chasing the 'rasslers round the ring."
