DescriptionA black-and-white photograph of Babe Ruth batting. The caption (not shown) reads "Babe Ruth smashing out his third home run in the eighth inning of the first game of the double header between the Yankees and the Athletics at Shibe Park, Philadelphia, Pa., May 21. Although his circuit blows scored six runs his teammates lost 15 to 7. It was the first time the slugger ever had hit three homers in a regular season game. He has twice performed the feat in a world series contests. Wallie Schang is catching and [...]llin is the umpire." Based on research, the umpire is Dick Nallin. A handwritten "Tonight" can also be seen on the front of the photograph.
