Babe Ruth and Whitey Ford Dual photograph

Date1961 October 08
DescriptionA black-and-white photograph of Babe Ruth and Whitey Ford. The caption (not shown) reads "Cincinnati, Ohio: Fans of baseball great Babe Ruth, barely recovered from the spectacle of Yankee Roger Maris hitting 61 homers, now have a new Ruth-record-breaker to contend with. Whitey Ford, shown in a recent filer, set a new mark of 32 consecutive scoreless innings in World Series play, when he teamed with reliever Jim Coates October 8th to throttle the Reds 7-0. The surpassed a lesser known Ruth record of 29 runless frames which the Bambino-to-be (files, circa 1918) chalked up as a pitcher for the Red Sox."
