He is bent over at the waist with his body facing the camera as he looks to his left. He is swinging both of his arms behind him as if starting a pitching winding up. He is wearing a baseball glove on his left hand and has a baseball in his right hand. In the background are unidentified players on the field and the left field grandstand. The newspaper caption on the back (not shown) reads, "Don Newcombe: He and Roe give the Dodgers their best one-two pitching combo since the days of Kirby Higbe and Whitlow Wyatt a decade ago."
