DescriptionA black-and-white photograph of Satchel Paige pitching for the Havana Cubans against the Kansas City Monarchs. He is captured having just released a pitch, the ball can be seen in the upper right corner heading towards the plate. The caption above the image (not shown) reads, "New York: Lips pursed, the seemingly rubber arm of Satchel Paige fires the ball to the plate during the Negro American League exhibition game at Ebbets Field here 8/23. He pitched for the Havana Cubans, who defeated the Kansas City Monarchs, 6-4. Paige, who gave his age as 'between 40 and 60,' fanned four men and allowed three hits during his three inning stint. Paige wore a White Sox uniform sent to him by Chicago White Sox owner, Bill Veeck."
