A caption on the left reads, "Florida Grapefruit League Opens--The New York Yankees invaded the Washington Senators field to open the winter seasons exhibition baseball games. Mickey Mantle made his debut as a first baseman and handles Horace Clarke's throw to nab Washington Senators Paul Casanova for an easy out in third inning. Final score, Yankees 8 Senators 7." The photograph was most likely taken at Pompano Beach Municipal Park.
