Date1945
DescriptionA black-and-white photograph, from left to right, of Greek George, Connie Mack and Buddy Rosar captured standing in a dugout. Mack has a large smile on his face and is holding up a baseball in his right hand and has a mitt on the other. George is dressed in his catcher's gear and is smiling towards Mack. Rosar is looking down at Mack with a smile. He wears a mitt on his left hand. Both George and Rosar are dressed in the Philadelphia Athletics uniforms. All three gentlemen were catchers during their careers in baseball. A newspaper clipping is affixed to the back of the photograph (not shown) (not shown) and states, "Connie Mack, Philadelphia A's manager, who was a catcher in his playing days, talks with two new acquisitions to his catching department. Charley George (left) was purchased from Toronto and Buddy Rosar (right) was obtained in a trade from the Cleveland Indians for Frankie Hayes, May 29. Rosar had been a holdout with the Indians since the start of the current season." Based on the style of uniforms and each player's career with the Athletics, this image was captured in 1945.
