The caption on the reverse (not shown) reads, "Mr. Connie Mack at his last World Series game. On Sept. 30, 1954, second game of the World Series between New York GIants and Cleveland Indians, at Polo Grounds, New York City, Frank Mayer, of Hollywood, California, snapped this striking photograph that shows Mr. Mack's farewell to baseball. Seated at left is A.F. Ruppenthal, of Los Angeles, California, lifelong friend of Mr. Mack. Mr. Mack's memorable baseball career spanned 66 years, from 1884 to 1950. Photograph presented to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1958 by Mr. Ruppenthal." According to the caption, this photograph was taken on September 30, 1954.
