In the image at the top, Mack is captured releasing his throw as young unidentified Philadelphia Athletics players look on. In the photograph on the bottom, Mack is captured demonstrating his batting stance as an unidentified Philadelphia Athletics player and Jo-Jo White (right) look on. Bob Swift is in the background dressed in his catcher's gear. A newspaper clipping is affixed to the back of the photograph (not shown) (not shown) and states, "Connie Mack Dead Philadelphia: Connie Mack, 93, 'Grand Old Man of Baseball,' died here February 8th at home of daughter. Mack, who was quite a player in his younger days, is pictured here giving some of his charges a few tips during his managerial career. Top photo: Mack shows some rookie pitchers how at the Philadelphia Athletics' spring training camp in 1934. At bottom, Mack shows he's still good with the wood during the A's' pre-season training in 1943. Watching the old master are catcher Bob Swift, outfielder Jo Jo White. 2/8/56."
