Simmons is dressed in the Philadelphia Athletics road uniform. A newspaper clipping is affixed to the back of the photograph (not shown) (not shown) and states, "Connie Mack dies Philadelphia: Connie Mack, 93, 'grand old man of baseball,' died here February 8th. Photo at left shows Mack discussing prospects with the then-rookie first baseman Jimmy [Jimmie] Foxx during the Philadelphia Athletics' spring training at Fort Myer, FLA., in 1931. At right, Mack talks things over with another of his stars, Al Simmons, during spring training at West Palm Beach, FLA., in 1946. Simmons was then a coach. 2/8/56." Based on the caption the image on the left was taken in approximately 1931 and the image on the right was taken in approximately 1946 and the dual image was created on February 8, 1956.
