DescriptionA black-and-white photograph of Connie Mack captured as he gives pitching pointers to the Philadelphia Athletics during spring training. Mack, who is dressed in a suit, has his right leg high in the air and as he begins a wind up. The players, from left to right, Jesse Flores, Lum Harris, an unidentified player, Pat Cooper, Lou Knerr, and Joe Coleman stand and watch attentively. The players are dressed in the Philadelphia Athletics road uniforms. A newspaper clipping is affixed to the back of the photograph and states, "Connie Mack, 88-year-old manager of the Philadelphia Athletics, steps to the mound at the A's training camp at West Palm Beach, Fla., rears his leg in the air and shows some prospective pitchers some real pitching form. Players are unidentified." Based on the newspaper clipping this photograph was taken on February 24, 1946.
