A newspaper clipping is affixed to the back of the photograph (not shown) (not shown) and states, "Never Too Old To Go West Philadelphia, Pa.--Connie Mack, owner and manager of the Philadelphia Athletics, shown with Mrs. Mack, as they left Philadelphia, bound for Anaheim, California, where the Athletics will set up their first California spring training camp in 40 years.2/17/40." A newspaper clipping is affixed to the back of an additional copy and states, "Philadelphia - Connie Mack, veteran manager of the Philadelphia Athletics, and Mrs. Mack shown on the train at the North Philadelphia station here yesterday before they left with members of the for the Athletics' training camp at Anaheim, Calif.2/17/40." Based on the newspaper clippings this photograph was taken on February 16, 1940.
