Letter from Ty Cobb to Alexander Cleland

DescriptionA three-page handwritten letter from Ty Cobb to Alexander Cleland, September 24, 1938. The top of page one reads "Tyrus R. Cobb, Box 394 D, Menlo Park, California." To the right is the date and to the left, in pencil, it reads "Henry Edwards, Am. League Office, [?] Bldg, Chicago." Cobb writes to let Cleland know that he has sent some items to the museum. Items from his Detroit days - a sweater jacket, shirt, pants, and stockings. From his Philadelphia Athletics days, he sent shoes and sliding pads. He also mentions a couple of mistakes that are on his induction plaque and writes that perhaps there are mistakes on others. He recommends Mr. Frank G. Menke, editor of the All Sports Record Book, to help in getting official records. The versos (not shown) are blank.
