Letter from Alexander Cleland to Geraldine Farrar

Date1939 May 01
DescriptionA typed letter from Alexander Cleland to Miss Geraldine Farrar, soprano opera singer, May 1, 1939. A copy of the original letter kept by Cleland. The top right has the date and to the left is the recipient's name and address of Ridgefield, Conn. Cleland writes to Farrar to ask if she is coming to Cooperstown for the dedication ceremonies of the museum and Doubleday Field. He asked her if she could sing either "My Country Tis of Thee" or "Star Spangle Banner." He tells her this will be covered by three networks and there will be newsreels and other cameramen there and they may want her to pose for a picture. If she is coming, Cleland will arrange for a chauffeur and maid. This letter is not signed and the verso (not shown) is blank.
