DescriptionA black-and-white, head and shoulder, photograph of John McGraw captured looking off to the side with a straight face. McGraw is dressed in the New York Giants home uniform. A newspaper clipping affixed to the back of the photograph (not shown) reads, "The Polo Grounds has been immortalized in song and story. For years, it was one of the most famous baseball parks in the land. In this, the first of a series, Frank Graham writes of 'It happened At the Polo Grounds,' recounting some of the historic events at the park....John McGraw." A caption written on the back of the photograph (not shown) reads, "John McGraw 1923." Based on the caption, McGraw's uniform and his time with the New York Giants this photograph was taken in approximately 1923.
