DescriptionA black-and-white photograph of Mel Ott and and Bill Terry captured having a discussion on a baseball diamond. Ott is squatting down near a base and is looking up at Terry. Ott is holding his baseball glove in his right hand and is dressed in a New York Giants road uniform. Terry is kneeling down and has his hand placed on Ott's knee. He is looking directly at Ott and is dressed in a suit. A newspaper clipping is affixed to the back of the photograph (not shown) and states, "Mel Ott (left), new manager of the New York Giants since former manager Bill Terry (right) moved up the front office, discusses baseball strategy with the former pilot at the club's spring training camp in Miami, FLA. 2/17/42." Based on the caption and Ott's time with the Giants, this photograph was taken on February 17, 1942.
