DescriptionA black-and-white photograph of Mel Ott captured as he is being presented with a vehicle at the Polo Grounds. Ott is standing on a baseball field with a small smile on his face as he holds his baseball cap in his left hand and receives a paper in his right hand from Ford Frick. Frick is looking in the direction of the vehicle that is located on the field. Ott's fellow New York Giants teammates and players from the opposing team, the Philadelphia Phillies, are standing behind Ott. The Polo Grounds is in the background. Ott is dressed in a New York Giants home uniform. A newspaper clipping is affixed to the back of the photograph (not shown) and states, "Mel Ott of the New York Giants received a new sedan, Aug. 19, from president Ford Frick of the National League in pre-game ceremonies at home plate in the Polo Grounds. Ott received the award after he was voted most popular third baseman in the All-American popularity poll. Photo shows the presentation ceremony."
