Mel Ott Award photograph

Dateprobably 1944
DescriptionA black-and-white photograph of Mel Ott receiving an award at the Polo Grounds in New York City. Ott is captured holding a War Bond popularity contest award. On the baseball field with Ott are two unidentified gentlemen and Elsie the cow. Ott is dressed in a New York Giants home uniform. The gentleman dressed in a trench coat and hat is reaching out towards the cow. The Polo Grounds is in the background. The caption on the back of the photograph (not shown) states, "E.L. Noetzel-of Bordens, Mel Ott + Elsie the cow. Ott receives war bond award." Based on Ott's uniform, his time with the Giants, and a date stamp on the reverse (also not shown), this photograph was probably taken in 1944.
