A newspaper clipping is attached to the back of the photograph (not shown) and states, "Mel Ott (left), who resigned as manager of the New York Giants, and his successor, Leo Durocher, smilingly talk to newsmen after announcement in Giants' offices here July 16. Durocher, who resigned as Brooklyn Dodgers manager and in all probability will be succeeded by Burt Shotton, assumes command of the Giants in Pittsburgh tonight. Ott will take over a place in the Giants' office organization."
