DescriptionA black-and-white photograph of Mel Ott, left, and Leo Durocher, right, captured putting baseballs into a container. Ott is standing and looking down at the container. Durocher is holding the lid open with his left hand and is about to place a ball in the container. Numerous unidentified fans are looking on from the stadium. Polo Grounds and dugout are in the background. Ott is dressed in a New York Giants home uniform whereas Durocher is dressed in a Brooklyn Dodgers road uniform. The caption on the back of the photograph (not shown) states, "Melvin Thomas Ott & Leo Durocher Preside over receptacle holding foul balls returned from stands for shipment to the armed forces." Based on Ott and Durocher's uniforms and their time with their respective teams, this photograph was taken in either 1942 or 1943.
