DescriptionA black-and-white photograph of Pie Traynor captured sitting down as he learns he was chosen to be inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame. Traynor has a smile on his face as he holds up a piece of paper. He is dressed in a suit. A newspaper caption affixed to the back of the photograph (not shown) states, "Harold (Pie) Traynor, National League third baseman for 17 years and Pittsburgh Pirate manager from June 1934 through 1939, was elected to Baseball's Hall of Fame. Traynor (above), smiles as he reads of the honor in Pittsburgh, Feb. 26." Based on the caption, this photograph was taken on February 26, 1948.
