DescriptionThe scorecard is from a Cleveland Blues vs. Boston Beaneaters game played on May 3, 1884 at South End Grounds I in Boston, Massachusetts. The game was won by Boston by a score of 11 to 2. The scorecard is printed in black ink and is filled in with pencil by C. Weden. The scorecard has advertisements for John C. Paige Insurance Agency, "Boss Lump" Tobacco, Wright & Ditson Sporting Goods, Beacon Cigars, and Richardson & Gerts, Men's Furnishings. The Wright & Ditson advertisement has a lithograph of a Wright & Ditson willow baseball bat. The front cover reads "Official Score Card. season of 1884" above a lithograph of John Morrill from the chest up. Morrill is wearing a suit and looking off to his left. The caption under the lithograph reads "John Morrill, manager and captain Boston Base Ball Club." The back cover has advertisements for Billy Paterson's, WM. English, H. Mitchell Fashionable Tailor, and Crocker & Eldridge Sole Agents. The advertisement for Crocker and Eldridge includes a lithograph of a street scene in front of the department store.
