Moe Berg catcher's mask

DescriptionHorizontal bar-style mask with black metal cage and side ear protectors. Front has a round hole in the lower quadrant of the cage. Back side of the mask has two face pads, a U-shaped pad for the face and forehead and one pad for the chin. Both are tan leather and are attached to the metal cage by fabric lacing through metal eyelets. The head strap consists of a vertical black leather piece with an elastic horizontal strap attached to the frame with smaller leather straps and metal buckles. There is a fabric "Spalding" manufacturer label on the leather strap piece in the center where it meets the elastic strap.
Bio/Historical NoteBerg played for Brooklyn Dodgers, Chicago White Sox, Cleveland Indians, Washington Senators, and the Red Sox. Condition notes: metal cage has small areas of rust, especially at joints. Top leather strap of headgear is ripped. Secondary addition of yarn attachies chin strap to frame on both sides. Leather is worn but stable.|Catcher's mask worn by Moe Berg during his career.
