Mickey Cochrane catcher's mask

DescriptionMetal wire horizontal bar-type catcher's mask with around spitter hole and ear protectors. There is leather padding with eyelets which is laced to the frame. The leather vertical headgear and elastic horizontal headgear are attached with leather straps and metal buckles. There is a manufacturer logo on the head strap.
Bio/Historical NoteCatcher's mask worn by Mickey Cochrane. Playing for the Philadelphia Athletics and Detroit Tigers, Cochrane led five teams to American League pennants during the seven-year span from 1929 through 1935. As player-manager of the Detroit Tigers, Cochrane led the Tigers to pennants in 1934 and 1935, and to Detroit's first World Series title in 1935. He was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1947.
