Letter from Roxey Roach to Nelle Stewart

DescriptionA 13-page letter with envelope (not shown) written by Roxey Roach to Nelle Stewart, June 26, 1911. It's handwritten on 7 pages, back-to-back. Roxey writes to tell how thrilled he was to get her letter stating she would marry him in August. He was sorry to mention going to dances and tells her he would not do anything to hurt her. He tells her as much as he'd like to marry her in August, it's best to wait until after the baseball season. The team leaves for a 20-day road trip starting August 18 and it would not be fair to leave her alone. He tells her to talk to her mother about it and is happy that she is satisfied with him. He signs it "Yours Always, Wilbur, xxxx," his given name.
